Poggio Stenti – Tuscany
TRIBOLO ~ Montecucco Rosso D.O.C.
GRAPE VARIETIES
100% Sangiovese.
PRODUCTION AREA
Hillside vineyards at 200 meters above sea level, along the Orcia river. The soil has a high percentage of clay which helps maintain water reserves from winter and spring rainfall. This helps support the vines over the hot, dry summer growing period, avoiding stress and allowing for excellent phenolic ripeness.
VINIFICATION
The grapes (100% Sangiovese) are harvested in mid-September, when reaching sugar levels of 22-23 percent. The skin is thick and the pulp dense, with the seeds reaching ideal maturation. Fermentation last for about 15 days at controlled temperatures, with skin contact to allow for good polyphonic extraction. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel.
AGING
The wine is left to age for about 12 months in stainless steel tanks, which permit it to maintain a fresh, fruity bouquet and soft structure. The wine is then aged for an additional six months in bottle before release.
ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS
The wine is an intense ruby red color, fresh and fruity, with flavors reminiscent of cherries, peaches and blueberries. It is very well structured and offers a long, persistent finish. The wine rewards patient aging with a developed depth of character.
